Maciej Pinkwart, 11-11-2002MACIEJ PINKWART (* 16 III 1948, Milanówek near Warsaw), historian, journalist, writer, teacher. In 1965 graduated from college in Milanówek, then studied at the Warsaw University (egiptology, graduated in 1970, journalism 1972). In 1983 he obtained a doctor's degree at the Warsaw University (Thesis: The Press in Zakopane in 1891-1939). From 1971 was professional journalist in press and radio broadcasting. In 1974 worked as social manager in Governement Farm in Kietrz near Opole, then moved to Zakopane and worked in town administration first, then from 1976 till today in Karol Szymanowski Museum, where he became the first custodian. In the years 1991-92 was also journalist and manager of zakopianian branch of "Cracow Daily News", in 1991-93 was journalist in local Radio "Alex", then Polish Radio Cracov (1993-96), Warsaw Radio "Kolor" (1993-1995), Sweden Radio (1994-96), 3rd Programme of Polish Radio (1996). From 1994 till 2000 was zakopanian correspondent of 2nd Programme of Polish Radio and Radio "Zet". He was also co-operator of more than dozen newspapers in Poland.
In 1986-1989 he was the owner and manager of "Tatrasoft" firm, which made software for 8 bit computers. In 1990-92 was editor-in-chief of "Tatra Edition", 1995-96 editor-in-chief of "Halo Zakopane Monthly", in 1992 became a teacher at the Zakopane Art School.
Member of Tatra Museum Science (1991-2000), lecturer in High Business School in Nowy Sacz Department of National Louis University (1995-97), teacher of Literature, Film and Journalistic in Art School in Zakopane (from 1992), editor-in-chief of school "Literary Quaterly" (from 2001).
In study times he was an actor in University Theatre "Wagant", in 1975-76 was literary chief of "Scherzo" Cabaret in Zakopane. He was organizer of musical life in Zakopane, co-creator of the festival "The Days of Karol Szymanowski Music " (from 1977), initiator of Karol Szymanowski Music Society (1977, member of first board), creator and first president of Art Education Society (1996-2000). Lecturer of Tatra Guides Courses, author and actor in TV films and
programmes (from 1960).
From 1978 he published books on local themes (Zakopane, Tatry Mts, Podhale Region), guides of Paris and Northern Slovakia, belle-letres - poetry, stories, novels.
